Monday evening while doing some work, I noticed that an update was available, so I let it run its course.
Upon restart, I noticed a new box in the upper right. It is simply a buttonless method for switching windows. Subtle, but I barely ever use the windows, so it's kind of useless for me.
Unfortunately, the other new addition was an ample supply of endless page hangs. I couldn't get anywhere.
So, I decided it was time to hit the dev switch to reset it back to its initial state.
It was really easy to do. However, I don't want to run in dev mode, so I eventually flipped it back. The screen you see is mildly entertaining though. Much better than the cryptic BSOD.
Thanks to the knowledgeable community of Google Buzz, I was directed to http://www.google.com/chromeos/recovery to get a USB image. Took all of 10 minutes.
Plugged in the USB drive, installed the current beta channel, back in action.
I did lose a handful of files I downloaded locally, but nothing important. This is a cloud computer after all. :-) They're all online anyway.
Just like
the video on YouTube shows, even after a complete reset, you login and sync, and everything is back just the way it was before.
I love the cloud, and it's chrome-colored lining.
To combine 9 parts files above into 1 file just use WINRAR, then extract the files into ZIP format.
If any problem with the file, maybe because the file have corrupted during the download process, you can try to re-download the file.
